Desert Exploration

Dragonbone Dunes is south of Evergrind City, down from where you'd normally go towards Pumpkin Woods.

After completing the previous main quest, the stairs blocked by archaeologists will become accessible, and the desert will be open for exploring. To get to Port Monnaie, you will have to advance through the desert until you find the teleport plate; from there, go through the Math Cave and solve its three puzzles (the third one involves killing a wave of enemies spawned based on the path you used to solve the math problem).

After exiting the Math Cave, you can push the minecart to open a shortcut and advance towards the Saloon. The path downwards will lead straight to Port Monnaie, but your progress will be blocked by Marino. You will have to defeat him to advance to the port; this time, he will be much stronger and also use advanced moves.

The Temple

Once in the port, go to the harbor and talk to Roppe, Althea, and Dr. Spengler (the three people with an exclamation mark above their head). The last one will tell you that the Black Ferrets are in the Saloon, and that they have a boat that you can use to reach The Lost Ship.

Once at the Saloon, you can talk to Morgan to make him move out of the way. Regardless of your password choice, he will say it's correct, and will let you in. The Black Ferrets will task you with retrieving a gemstone called The Red Sun; to progress, you'll have to complete the quest A Fare Price.

After giving them the gemstone, the Black Ferrets will wait at the harbor. You can talk to them to go to the Lost Ship (this will also activate a teleport plate which you can use to return to this area later on).

The Lost Ship lower floor

Next, you need to advance through the Lost Ship and make your way towards the deck. First, you'll have to reach Dr. Spengler on the platform above the starting room by looping around the left side. Talking to her will grant you the ability to switch between the normal and the Twilight World (default hotkey is Space). You can use this ability to traverse the Lost Ship, and also fight any enemies in the Twilight World by switching to it (you can also avoid certain attacks coming from the Twilight World by returning to the normal world).

To advance, you will need the key from the Twilight Chest above Dr. Spengler's platform; unfortunately, you will need to do another loop to get to it; this time, the room that had enemies in it will now be a Gauntlet consisting of three waves. In addition, the entrance to the chest's platform will be blocked off, and you will have to defeat Captain Bones's boss fight to advance (you can start it by hitting the ghost in the key door room while in Twilight Mode).

After defeating Captain Bones and getting the key from the Twilight Chest, you can open the key door to advance to the next floor.

The Lost Ship upper floor

There are two paths you can take: downwards, which leads to another key door with a locked chest nearby, and to the right, which leads to the ship's kitchen. You will need to get a key from the kitchen, so go to the right first.

On the right path, you will face a Gauntlet in the bunk room, and in the next hallway you will have to traverse the twilight bridges without getting spotted by the eyes, or caught by the mask. Getting caught by either of them will send you back to the start, but you can avoid the detection (or stop the teleport sequence) by switching to the normal world. Keep in mind that going back to the normal world will make you fall off of twilight bridges.

Once in the kitchen, read each note once. This will make the fridge's door open, revealing the key, though attempting to retrieve it will reveal that the fridge is possessed. To kill the fridge, you will have to lure it multiple times into landing on grates so that it gets burned by fire. Be careful, as the fridge deals heavy damage and will launch ice spikes every three attacks.

After defeating the fridge and retrieving the key, you can go back to the other path. You can use it to open the chest and get gunpowder; getting past the key door will require blasting it with the cannon. You will face two Gauntlets while doing this: the first one in the room below the cannon, which will also have a Painting Ghost that launches fire attacks across the room; the second one in the room below the key door (after blasting it), which will feature the Mask as an enemy that also launches fire attacks. The Painting Ghost's fire attacks can't damage you in Twilight Mode, while the Mask won't launch at you and its fire won't hurt you unless you're in Twilight Mode.

Once you've traversed the hallway and reached the ballroom, you will have to complete the quest A Ghastly Gathering to gain the key needed to advance through the quest.

After obtaining the key and going in the room to the left of the ballroom, Captain Bones will cast the Curse of the Moon on you. You will end up in a distorted, strange version of Startington; to get out of it, you will have to enter each of the three houses and complete their sequences, then go back in the main character's parental house and interact with the Globe in their room. Keep in mind that in the rune block section, pushing a block instead moves another one in the puzzle.

Once out of the Curse, you can go into Captain Bones's room and access the deck; Luke will be waiting at the right side of it. Prepare yourself well, as the boss fight is hard.

After retrieving the artifact, go back to Evergrind City and go in Ivy's office to finish the quest.

Tips

  • You can solve the puzzle on the lower deck to uncover a secret room. There's a chest inside that contains Piratehat.png Pirate Hat
  • Remember to use Twilight Mode in Lost Ship. It is required for interacting with things that allow you to progress through the ship, and also for defeating the enemies here
  • You may want to equip a Potion health-0.png Health Potion, since the bosses in Lost Ship are extremely hard. It allows you to heal to a decent health level before advancing to their second phases
