Base Charge

Launches a high damaging projectile that travels in a straight line, detonating on the first enemy it hits.

Bronze Charge
Travels further and does a little more damage.
Silver Charge

Creates a bigger fireball that deals more damage, and may also cause additional burning damage over time.

Gold Charge

Shoot out a phoenix with a tail of fire, causing multiple hits of damage. Has a high chance of burning enemies, adding additional damage over time.

Performance for Max Level

For Level 10 Firball, performance is as follows:

  • Total Damage based on MATK (if all hits land):
    • Base: 276%
    • Bronze: 400.2%
    • Silver: 600% + 300% (burn) = 900%
    • Gold: 960% + 624% (burn) = 1584%
  • Fireball gains +20 Bonus Damage after MATK calculations. For Gold Charge, the phoenix trails receive +6 Bonus Damage

The burn effect doesn't stack, so total damage will be lower with repeated Silver or Gold Fireball use

Mechanics

Fireball shots out a single projectile on cast, which deals all of the spell's damage in one hit.

The Fireball travels faster with CSPD, and at Bronze Charge and above, it travels 25% faster than usual.

At Gold Charge, three additional, smaller projectiles are added, which trail the main projectile.

Burn Effect

At Silver Charge and above, Fireball has a chance to set enemies hit on fire:

  • Silver: 50% chance, 50% Total Spell Damage dealt over 5 seconds
  • Gold: 75% chance, 65% Total Spell Damage dealt over 5 seconds

The burn chance can be increased with the Crippling Blast talent.

For Gold Charge, only the main projectile can set enemies on fire, and burn damage cannot Critically Hit.

Gold Phoenix Trail

At Gold Charge, Fireball shoots three smaller projectiles that trail the main projectile. These projectiles deal 33.3% of the main projectile's damage.

If an enemy happens to die before the secondary projectiles make contact (usually due to the main projectile killing them), the remaining projectiles in flight will "pierce" through the dying enemy, and hit enemies behind it.

Damage

The skill scales based on MATK, and the Charge Multipliers for each level are as follows:

  • Base: 230%
  • Bronze: 333.5%
  • Silver: 500%
  • Gold: 400%

Fireball's main projectile damage can be calculated as follows:

Main Damage = MATK * Charge Multiplier * (1 + 0.02 * Spell Level) + 2 * Spell Level

For Gold Charge, each of the three trails will deal 33% of Main Damage. This makes Gold Fireball deal 200% of Main Damage in total.

Tips

  • At Gold Charge, consider increasing your Critical Chance and getting a Magicbattery.png Magic Battery. Since the secondary projectiles Crit independently of the main one, you have a high chance of activating the Battery's effect on every cast. Coupled with Fireball's low cost, this effectively allows you to spam the spell and deal great damage
  • At Silver and Gold Charge, the burn effect deals a significant amount of damage, but doesn't stack with repeated Fireball casts. Consider casting other spells if an enemy is burning, so that you can deal damage with both the burn effect and the spell at the same time for increased DPS
