Stasis
Stasis is an offensive utility skill, which allows you to freeze an enemy, removing them from the fight.
Stats
EP Cost: 40 EP
Put an enemy in a stasis field, stopping it in time and space. When the spell ends or if the enemy is attacked, the stasis will break and the enemy will be free to move again.
The default duration is 3 seconds, plus 1 per additional spell level.
Against certain enemies such as bosses and special foes, the duration will be significantly decreased.
Mechanics
Stasis freezes an enemy in place for 2 + 1 * Skill Level seconds. While in Stasis, the enemy cannot act, and certain effects (such as Burn) are paused.
An enemy in Stasis wakes up once the duration expires or it takes damage. Only one instance of Stasis can exist at a time, and enemies put in Stasis previously will wake up when a new instance is cast.
Interactions
Some spells are unable to target enemies in Stasis:
- Stasis cannot target enemies currently affected by it
- Provoke cannot target enemies in Stasis, and doesn't add them to total targets found
- Reaper's Blade cannot target enemies in Stasis
- Frosty Friend ignores enemies in Stasis, but it can still wake them up if an attack (aimed at another enemy) damages them
- Cloud Strike ignores enemies in Stasis, but it can still wake them up if an attack (aimed at another enemy) damages them. Gold Charge bounces ignore enemies in Stasis
- Chain Lightning cannot target enemies in Stasis or bounce to them, and doesn't add them to total targets found
- Insect Swarm ignores enemies in Stasis
- Summon Plant ignores enemies in Stasis
- Spirit Slash ignores enemies in Stasis
Pause Effect
Some actions are paused while an enemy is in Stasis:
- The Sentry will not spawn enemies
- Burn Status Effect doesn't deal damage and pauses duration
- Reaper's Blade pauses duration
- Provoke pauses duration
- Other Status Effects (such as Chill) placed on enemies pause duration
An exception to the list above is Freeze, which will tick down as usual
Enemies do not act while in Stasis, and any attacks which would normally damage the player (such as Solem's Beam) do not hurt them.
Enemy Stasis Resistance
Stasis duration against Bosses is reduced by 80%, and Elite enemies reduce it by 50%.
Some enemies also have an individual resistance to Stasis:
- Bossling: 50%
- Living Rune Block: 50%
- Red Spinsect: 50%
- Zhamla Meer: 80% (stacks multiplicatively with Boss category)
- Fridge (Ghost Ship): 50%
Some enemies gain Stasis resistance when doing certain actions:
- Teddy and Freddy: 80%, while going for Smoke Bomb or Side Attack positions
- Monkeys:
- 75%, if holding a key
- 40%, if holding something else
Tips
- Stasis is extremely useful in Arcade due to preventing dangerous enemies from acting. Cast it on an enemy that you think will interrupt your actions the most
- Stasis might not be preferable in boss fights, as the large reduction in duration makes it unviable
- In Multiplayer, enemies previously in Stasis will wake up when a new instance is cast. You should have at most one player using this skill, since multiple casts will just nullify each other
